England continued to be on top in the third Test against India at Eden
Gardens on Friday. England ended day three of the third Test at 509 for
six to have an overall lead of 193.
Earlier, England resumed at its overnight score of 216 for one and continued to build on it.
The first to depart was Jonathan Trott who fell for 87 (223b, 10x4) caught behind by India captain MS Dhoni. Trott and Alastair Cook added 173 runs for the second wicket.
Cook fell in bizarre circumstances getting run out as he tried to avoid getting by the throw for 190 (377b, 23x4, 2x6). In the post tea session, England lost three wickets.
Kevin Pietersen made 54 (85b, 9x4, 1x6) was the other top-scorer for England.
Towards the end of the day, England's seventh wicket pair of Matt Prior and Graeme Swann added 56 runs.
For India, Pragyan Ojha ended with figures of 3-140 while Ravichandran Ashwin (1-183) and Ishant Sharma (1-78) picked a wicket apiece.
